Puppy Basics & AKC Puppy STAR Prep
Class Description:
All my classes are going to be reward-based, games-based, concept-building classes. If you don't know what all this this means, please ask! We will find and grow rewards, experiences, and reinforcers that your pup is willing to work for! We will focus on your pup practicing and rehearsing concepts like focus, calmness, and self-control.
The Puppy Basics / AKC Puppy STAR Prep is a 6-week class where we will cover and practice all of the items on the AKC STAR Puppy test. If you want to take the test at the end of the class, we will schedule a time to do it! Even more important for me though, is that you feel set up to continue your pup's training journey.
Some of the test items include: Sit, down, basic handling, beginning leash skills, calmness around other dogs and humans, and beginning recall (the "come" cue).
We focus on building the foundations from the ground up for:
-A pup who can listen even with distractions
-A pup who finds focusing on you enjoyable
-A calm, confident, friend who is set up to make good choices in most of the situations they will find themselves in

All classes will be held at Bigger Road Veterinary Center in Springboro in the big playroom, unless otherwise noted.

I want to make this as easy as possible for you! You can buy buy a block of 6 classes for $250. If you'd like to continue after this, you are welcome to buy in to another round. Some pups could definitely benefit from a bit more practice. If you would like to test after 6 classes, we will get you scheduled for a test date.
